Its asking your self

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

Its asking your self if you have a clear picture of the situation and of what is happening around you.

Many people get so caught up in a situation that they take on the other persons issues as their own. When you can remain calm, take a step back, you can ask your self, am I seeing this issue clearly or can I look at it differently?

For example, ask:

Is this person really angry at me?

Are they hurting and scared?

Do I have all of the facts?

Have I missed something that is important to them?

What might be the real issue hear?

Do I really want to hand my power over to them by reacting?

It?s asking:

How do I want to be in this situation?

How would I want to be treated it the situation were reversed?

Quite often people will react to a situation and fly off the handle instead of respond to it. In most cases, people have stated that they regret later when they flip out instead of finding out why the other perosn was upset.

Grant could train future firefighters

0 Comments | Roanoke Times & World News, Sep 1, 2010 | by Anna L. Mallory

Pulaski County’s juniors and seniors could get the chance to take classes in firefighting and receive training as emergency medical technicians next school year.

And local emergency officials think it could help in recruiting and retaining staff members.

Last week, the county’s school board approved a grant proposal to obtain $165,000 from a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant.

If approved, the courses would start in the 2011 academic year. The school system is working with the county’s emergency management department and the eight Pulaski County Volunteer Fire Departments on the proposal.

Its goal is to help local fire departments with staffing. SAFER offers two types of grants, those that support hiring and those that support recruitment. The classes would focus on recruiting.

“This is a way that they can do it as part of their school,” said Bobby Clark, Pulaski County’s emergency services coordinator. “It gives them a vocation they can get into after they get out of school.”

Students in the courses would receive certifications qualifying them to hold volunteer or entry-level paid positions on fire departments or rescue squads. They also will be qualified to further their education in those fields outside the school system.

Clark said recruiting firefighters to volunteer squads is particularly difficult, and successful programs in other parts of the state have been in place for nearly 30 years.

“You can always use more volunteers, especially during the day time,” he said.

The grant application will be put in by the Sept. 18 deadline.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Christiansburg High receives drug grant

Montgomery County Public Schools received more than $48,000 to implement a substance abuse prevention program at Christiansburg High School that 100 students will participate in this school year, according to a news release from the county.

The money came from the Governor’s Office for Substance Abuse Prevention.

Project SUCCESS is designed to prevent and reduce substance use and abuse among teens. Its components include education, counseling, parent programs and referral services. With this program, New River Valley Community Services will provide a prevention specialist who will help implement the program.

“The Project SUCCESS program components have a proven track record of decreasing substance abuse indicators among youth, including violence, truancy and low commitment to school,” said Rebecca Counts, student services supervisor for MCPS.

The county is looking for a downturn in substance abuse among students. Each of the county’s four high schools already has student assistance programming teams, which are designed to target at-risk students who might have attendance, academic or even substance abuse problems.

This new pilot program at CHS will work together with that, Counts said.

Project SUCCESS is one of 17 projects across the Commonwealth to be selected by the Governor’s Office for Substance Abuse Prevention to receive grant funding for safe and drug-free schools.

‘Free running’ Parkour is a sport

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

‘Free running’ Parkour is a sport in which contestants try to pass obstacles in their surroundings as quickly and smoothly as possible. Founded by David Belle, its origins are in France and S?bastien Foucan gave it its English name. The game was inspired by the ?Natural Method of Physical Culture? developed by George H?bert in the early 20th century. Raymond Belle, a Vietnam soldier, introduced the game to his son David.

A group called Yamakasi was set up to establish the game, but the members fell out with each other because of disagreements. ‘Yamakasi’ is a Lingala word, spoken in the Democratic Republic of Congo and it means ‘strong spirit, strong body, strong man.? For many, Parkour is an extreme sport while others compare it to martial arts like karate. It is admired as an art of movement or, as the French prefer to call it, ?l’art du d?placement?.

At another point in time

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

At another point in time I had a stereo cassette recording deck that would physically flip the tape over when one side was finished recording or playing. Now I own a more conventional stereo dual cassette deck, but I no longer use it for recording or much of anything else for that matter.

All my recording is now done on my computer. The audio and midi software available today for computer recording is quite amazing. You can record multiple tracks, edit the recordings and add special effects as desired. Many of the audio recording programs come with their own native special effects such as reverb, compression, flanger, and chorus, to name a few.

There is not now, nor will there ever be, a lab technician smarter than our Creator. Look to Him for your miracle cures because He has provided us with them.

You can find a wealth of information on how to eliminate disease and lose weight through our programs offered from our website at www.takebackyourhealth.org. You can also search the work of Dr. John McDougall, and Dr. Joel Fuhrman. These individuals are changing lives, and curing people.

There is no reason for 70-90% of the diseases that plague our nation to exist. We have control. We have the control NOW! Today! Why should we keep paying for researchers to search for a magic pill while we watch our loved ones be wiped out by preventable diseases!

My advice to you would be, the next time you get a solicitation in the mail from anyone of these organizations is to send them a letter stating that you will be happy to support their organization when they start teaching the truth!

North’s own self-stated

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

North’s own self-stated “goldbug status,” however, it would seem his article should have been better entitled, “The Myth of Honest Governments.” For like the author of Hebrews, who found fault not with the divinely-given standard of ethics, but with the inability of the people to keep it, North essentially distrusts governments, not payments made in specie.

By way of dissent, then, let us consider the following: the Bible itself does not precisely teach a gold standard, but a bi-metal standard of gold and silver, with coinage value measured by weight and purity. The only time this bi-metal standard seems to have been interrrupted was a respite brought about with Solomon’s over-procurement of so much gold (like the inflation generated by Spanish conquistadores in 15th/ 16th century Spain), that silver was “as common as stones.” This shows that silver had lost its value in Israel because of the influx of Gold brought to Solomon from Ophir (a place corresponding today roughly to southern Saudi Arabia).

Second, the Lord Jesus openly affirmed the right of the (Roman) goverment to mint and control its own coinage.

They need this information to send

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

They need this information to send you surveys, any products for testing and, most importantly, your cash or other rewards! Keep the information up to date as well. It’s such a simple thing, but so easily overlooked!

Take Every Survey They Send

Some survey programs will take note if you are taking all or most of your surveys and may increase the amount of surveys they send to you. So take every survey they send, if you can.

Be Prompt

Lots of surveys are time specific, where they may expire by a certain day or reach their quota very quickly. Check your email often, preferrably once a day, and take the surveys as soon as you receive them, if at all possible. Don’t assume you can save a survey until later or next week, as the survey may not be available anymore.

Computer Updates

Many surveys require a certain program to be installed on your computer to work properly. The most often required programs are Flash and Java. You should make sure your computer is updated with the latest versions of both programs, so you won’t have to download and install any software later on for surveys that require them.

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

If used as directed, they are relatively safe. You must wear eye protection to protect your eyes from the ultra violet rays, and you must also use the tanning lotions that are specifically designed for indoor tanning. Failure to take these precautions can ?and will ? result in retina damage, a higher probability of skin cancer, early wrinkles, and even sunburn.

It is also important to start slow when you first start using a tanning bed. Start on the lowest settings, with the minimum amount of time spent in the tanning bed, and get your tan in a gradual way. The lower the settings are, and the less time you spend in the tanning bed, the healthier your skin will be.

This is a good reason to own your own tanning beds, instead of using the ones at tanning salons.

If you choose a hand shake deal, be sure you trust your partner!

9. Launch your joint venture and test the results

Start small by doing a test run first. Write, print and send the endorsement letter and implement the tracking system. Make sure you?re equipped to handle the flood of new clients once you?ve set the joint venture into motion.

These steps are simple and easy to execute. If you follow them appropriately, you can look forward to having profitable, win-win joint venture projects! As with any marketing strategy, remember to test, tweak, track and review results until you find the best fit.
